Broken Camera, Canon Sorts It Out

Well over a year ago I had one of my Canon 5D bodies break while photographing a wedding. It was annoying but not a problem – that’s why I have back up gear.

The $700 repair for the camera was annoying though, made even more so by the fact that I knew a bunch of other photographers who had the same thing happen to their cameras while Canon told me it was an unknown problem. Then Canon turns around earlier this year, admits there is a problem with the mirror falling off inside the camera in hot, humid conditions. Just the type of conditions I get all the time as a Byron Bay wedding photographer. They also say they’ll fix any Canon 5Ds for free.

So I got in contact with Canon and they have agreed to refund the repair costs I had paid. You beauty.
