Photographing My First Wedding of the Year, Lismore and Ballina With a Touch of Fiji

My first wedding for this year was something very special to photograph. Emily the gorgeous bride is Australian and the super handsome groom, Kepa, is from Fiji. Their wedding linked two cultures with huge, huge smiles.

They had their wedding ceremony at the Lismore Adventist church and reception was at the Ballina RSL Club. In the lead up to the wedding day we had been kept on our toes by some very volatile weather. The wedding day though was sunny and hot. Super hot.

And then it all changed.

As the wedding ceremony began the clouds were building. In the middle of the ceremony we were hit by a massive thunderstorm and torrential rain. The church even lost power for a second. And then it stopped and cleared. After the ceremony we walked outside into blazing sunshine where most of the rain had already evaporated. It was like their lives had been washed clean to start again as a couple. Beautiful.

And being the wedding photographer was a huge treat. Kepa’s smile is electric and their personalities were simply enormous fun.

Here’s a quick selection of some of Emily and Kepa’s wedding photos from the hinterland hills down to the beach:
