Here’s a slideshow of the amazing photography that makes up the winners and finalists of the Nikon-Walkley Photographic Awards for Press Photographers in Australia. These are magnificent images that show the power of the camera but I would love for awards like this to be won by images of delight and unbridled pleasure. Pain, tragedy and heartbreak sell newspapers but I’d like to see some great winning images of fun and celebration in areas other sport. Maybe I’ll have to start the ball rolling on that myself.
