I’ve long suspected that a lot of people got engaged in late December to early January but now there is proof. In a recent podcast about diamonds and diamond jewellery from the Bourne Report a statistic was put forward that 25% of all marriage proposals occur during the ‘holiday season’.
A whole range of factors could be at play to make that two week period engagement central, from being away on holidays in an exotic location, wanting to be with and tell family or just getting caught up in a little too much Christmas cheer. More likely however is a massive slew of couples being overwhelmed by the romance and champagne of New Years Eve.
