Commercial and Business Photography in Northern NSW

In addition to being a wedding photographer, I also photograph a range of things for local Northern NSW businesses. This commercial photography can be anything from product photography in my studio, to location photography or other promotional photography for your businesses. I recently did a 3 day photoshoot at various locations around Ballina, Byron Bay, Lennox Head and outside Lismore for Creative Blinds. It was a great shoot that went super smoothly even though the lighting was particularly tricky.

I regularly shoot commercial images for clients who have decided to have a go at the photography themselves first to save money. The problem is that when they don’t manage to get the shot, they may have wasted significant time trying. I shot one job where the client had tried for 3 solid days to get what they were after. They called me at the last minute to step in and complete it for them. It was a studio shot that I set up, lit, photographed and post processed in under an hour. By trying to save my fee, they wasted 3 days of their own time.

If you are considering the need for some photography to help promote your business, please drop me an email or give me a call.

Great Engagement Photoshoot in Lismore

When Katie and Jamie arrived for their engagement photoshoot, I knew they’d be nervous. Katie had told me previously that they didn’t have any good photos together. Guess what? They do now.

We had a great, relaxed time taking their photos in a Lismore park. No stiff posing, no cheesy mugging for the camera. Just really good, laid back fun and laughs.

Getting your photo or portrait taken should never be a scary thing. It should be a wonderful experience. By doing an engagement photoshoot before your wedding, you get to avoid Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates and find out exactly what you’re going to get (see what I did there Jamie, that’s for you).

Super Special Portrait Photography of Wonderful People

A few weeks ago I got to take some very special portraits of some very special people.

When my parents come to town I normally grab them to model for me to take some stock photography of ‘seniors’. This time I decided to do something a bit different.

It’s important to me to continue to learn and grow as a photographer and I have been studying some innovative portrait photography techniques that initiate displays of genuine emotion. No instructions to “stand there and smile”. I used these techniques on Mum and Dad and they took us to a wonderful place.

This ended up being one of the most enjoyable photoshoots I have done in ages. I loved doing it, I love them and the love they have for each other is clearly evident in the pictures. Here’s a slideshow of a bunch of images from the photoshoot.

Wedding photography season is over for me for the year so I am doing all kinds of other photographic work. Yesterday saw me all over Northern NSW heading out from Lismore photograph trucks from Kyogle to Murwillumbah. Here’s a quick pic of the two trucks in question.

Wet, Wet, Weather Wedding Photography

Kate and Craig’s wedding was held on her parent’s farm outside Clunes, near Lismore in Northern NSW. An aisle had been mown into the grass to the wedding location under an ancient fig tree. The setting was idyllic and guests had come from around the world.

Then it rained. And rained. And kept on raining. We all hoped for the weather clear up. But it didn’t and the ceremony was quickly moved to the back verandah of the house. Didn’t matter though. This was a fun wedding with great people and lots of laughs. The jacarandas were in bloom and the rain meant the grass was lush. Kate’s bouquet and hers and Craig’s shoes provided some great orange sunshine for the day. And Pimms. Lots of Pimms for the Englanders.

Another great day to be a Northern NSW wedding photographer.

I’m trialling a new way to put together my blog posts. If this isn’t working properly for you, please let me know and I’ll get it sorted out – pronto.

A Location Fit for a Royal Wedding

Just revisiting a few photos I took in London, England and liked the look of this image of Westminster Abbey. Traditionally Royal weddings in England take place here. I wonder if a Royal couple getting married in Northern NSW would choose the churches of Lismore, the hinterland hills behind Byron Bay or the Ballina beaches for their wedding.

Lismore and Ballina Beach Wedding Photography

Last weekend I had the massive honour of being the wedding photographer for Amanda and James. In the past I have photographed numerous wedding and portraits for a great deal of their family and friends so, for me, it was kind of a reunion of sorts seeing many people who had been in front of my lens in the past.

Their ceremony was held at St Carthages Cathedral in Lismore and the reception at the Ballina RSL. All day the weather was a bit of a threat with it being very windy and rain didn’t look too far away. That turned out to be great for me. While taking wedding photographs on the beach at Ballina the sky turned wild up towards Byron Bay making for a spectacular back drop.
